Dr. Johannes Raabe

Dr. Johannes Raabe is the Chief Scientist for the Human Performance Team at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana. Prior to this role, he was an Assistant Professor of Sport and Exercise Psychology at West Virginia University from 2019 to 2022, and at Pennsylvania State University from 2017 to 2019. Dr. Raabe earned his Ph.D. in Sport Psychology and Motor Behavior at the University of Tennessee, his master’s degree (M.S.) at the University of Wyoming, and his bachelor’s degree (B.A.) at the Johannes Gutenberg-University of Mainz in Germany. Upon completion of his Ph.D., he spent a year in a postdoctoral research and teaching position at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen in Germany. Dr. Raabe’s research agenda is primarily focused on the antecedents, mediators, and outcomes of motivation across various domains and settings. He is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant with the Association for Applied Sport Psychology and listed on the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee Sport Psychology Registry.
